Healthy and Happy, Gyeongbuk

Creating a brighter future and happier Gyeongsangbuk-do for all residents

President Pyeon Chang Beom

Welcome to the website of the Gyeongbuk Happiness Foundation.

The Gyeongbuk Happiness Foundation (GHF) was established in 2010 entirely with funds from the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Office. It is a research institution that specializes in health and welfare-related issues and aims to help all Gyeongsangbuk-do residents lead happier and healthier lives.

Over the past three years, the GHF has contributed to expanding universal welfare in Gyeongsangbuk-do and has conducted several research projects—the Annual Implementation Plan for Social Welfare in Gyeongsangbuk-do, A Study on Methods to Minimize Human Damages in the Event of a Fire in a Senior Recuperative Facility, etc. The results of these studies and other data collected on site continued to be reflected in provincial health and welfare policies. The GHF’s extensive repository of research, such as its studies and investigations (etc.), continue to serve as invaluable resources that help provinces improve their welfare policies.

The GHF recently designated four initiatives that will be the institution’s focus in the coming years, helping provide all area residents with an even higher level of welfare benefits and satisfaction.

First, we will strengthen/increase policy research to develop a “Gyeongbuk-style” welfare provision system and resource network—which is greatly needed by administrative and welfare institutions.

Second, in order to create a more positive perception of health and welfare and to enhance the quality of welfare services,we will be significantly expanding our role as an educational institution by providing professional training to welfare facility personnel.

Third, in order to guarantee a broader range of higher-quality services for users to choose from, we will be introducing a consultation system for assessment/certification systems and welfare facility management. This consultation system is designed to stabilize the management of social welfare facilities and to systematize a large number of specialized services.

Finally, we will start operating the Gyeongsangbuk-do Social Service Support Association. Through consistent service monitoring and on-site inspections, the GHF hopes to play a leading role in the transparent provision of social services as well as in the finding of new welfare projects that fit the needs of Gyeongsangbuk-do.

Through these initiatives, welfare policies, and systems, the GHF promises to improve tangible welfare benefits for all three million Gyeongsangbuk-do residents and to help realize a happier and healthier population.
